It all began a decade ago, when American Biologist Ron Leidich sought employment as a PADI Dive Instructor in Palau. While discovering Palau’s labyrinth of limestone caves, marine siphon tunnels, secluded lagoons, pristine coral gardens and exotic tropical beaches, Ron quickly came to one conclusion – Palau’s Rock Islands and ocean going sea kayaks were made for one another.
From humble beginnings, Ron and his Palauan wife Leticia began running kayak day tours, overnight expeditions and kayak rentals with only two single and six double Perception Sea Kayaks, feeding an obsession of paddling, exploring, free diving, and photography that grew into a full service kayak outfitting service.
Paddling Palau runs six diverse Day Tours through Planet Blue Sea Kayak Tours, located at the world famous Sam’s Dive Tours. Catering to SCUBA divers and snorkelers, these exotic tours offer an intimate way to experience Palau’s hidden treasures. Planet Blue also offers a unique set of hand-crafted day tours specializing in reef fish nurseries, baby shark & sting-ray pupping grounds, fragile coral gardens, secluded birding habitats, as well as historical and cultural sites which tell tales of a complex Palauan society before the first visitors, up until World War II.
Led by experienced local naturalists, Paddling Palau’s extended overnight Kayak Camping Expeditions combine the excitement of attractions of our day tours with camping under a star-filled sky. If you prefer, guides will share their local knowledge to assist you in hooking the freshest catch you’ve ever tasted. A “no-worries” kind of adventure, guides and assistants carry your food and drink supplies on their kayaks, and you only need to paddle with your tent, air mattress, and personal items. Dry bags & boxes are included to ensure that your clothing, cameras, and personal effects remain safe and dry.
Overnight camping expeditions can be booked with a minimum of only two people. These customized adventures can range from one to seven nights of camping, padding, snorkeling, and exploring.
Paddling Palau also arranges exclusive Kayak Camping Safaris with Wilderness Travel, a prestigious tour company based in Berkeley, California. These camping safari itineraries are offered by no other operator and boast the world class paddling, snorkeling and exploring that Palau is famous for, plus a few perks. In addition to speed-boat support, deluxe camping amenities include walk in tents, folding beds, hot showers, and restaurant style dining by Tiki torch. For the ultimate combination of adventure and luxury, Kayak Camping Safaris are the best choice.
Indiana Jones should have paddled in Palau. For the hopeless adventurer, Paddling Palau also offers Kayak Rental Services. We offer laminated topographical maps, tide charts, and detailed instructions for independent travelers to opt for an exploration of their own.
